Abstract

The work presents, from the museological research, the possibility of building knowledge from the material culture, considering it testimonies of the society trajectory. From this premise, the Museology Course of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), through a teaching activity, proposes the research of cultural heritage preserved by UFRGS little or never researched. The study includes the Museum Collection of Physics Teaching Laboratories (AMLEF), linked with the Institute of Physics (IF) of UFRGS and presents the itinerary of a museological research and its results from an object: the Michelson and Fabry Interfephometer. Perot. It is concluded that the museological research is an indispensable exercise to transform the object into museums, promoting the diffusion of technical-scientific knowledge through material culture.
