Chinese museums’ tradition and changes

Resumo

ABSTRACT The first museum in China was built in 1905. It was built by the oppressed during the colonial era, and it was a pioneer in opposing colonialism and protecting Chinese national culture. Chinese museums have had a special kind of mission from the outset, so I called this kind of museum a “missionary museum”. Chinese museums today follow the revolutionary tradition established during the colonial era, and fully engage in the cause of social reform and development. As early as 1956, Chinese museum professionals established that the basic mission of museums was to serve society. Because of the intimate relationship between Chinese museums and Chinese society over the years, the Chinese government has attached great importance to museum affairs and museums have developed quickly in the country. Tradições e mudanças nos museus chineses RESUMO O primeiro museu na China foi construído, pelos oprimidos, em 1905, durante a era colonial, e foi pioneiro a se opor ao colonialismo e a dar ênfase à necessidade de proteger a cultura nacional chinesa. Os museus chineses dispõem, desde o início, de uma espécie de missão especial, o que me permite chamar este tipo de museu de “museu missionário”. Atualmente, os museus chineses seguem a tradição revolucionária instituída ainda no período colonial, e se engajam completamente na causa da reforma e do desenvolvimento social. Desde pelo menos 1956, os profissionais que atuam nos museus chineses estabeleceram que a missão básica dos museus é a de servir à sociedade. Dada a longa relação íntima entre os museus chineses e a sociedade chinesa, o governo chinês atribuiu grande importância ao papel dos museus o que levou que, na China, os museus tenham conhecido um rápido desenvolvimento.
