INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE: THEIR MUSEALIZATION POTENTIALS

Abstract

This article aims to promote a discussion regarding the approximations and gaps between musealization and patrimonialization processes, approaching the industrial heritage as object of study. Furthermore, to present the potential reverberations of these processes through the heritage usage, both, the building itself – with its reuse – also the other objects (material and immaterial) that compose this heritage typology, which are eclipsed in many patrimonialization actions. In this regard, the suggested hypothesis is that musealization process may contribute toward adding unity to the diversity of artifacts that compose the industrial heritage, in addition to contributing to its appreciation and social appropriation.
